SECURITY COUNCIL

Head Chair

 Joo Si Hwan

Honorable delegates, directors, and guests, welcome to KISMUN2020. I am Si Hwan Joo and it’s a great privilege to serve you to KISMUN2020 as a head chair of the security Council. This is my 7th MUN experience, 1st experience as a chair ,and maybe, the last in my school life. In retrospect, it was MUN that made my school life much more meaningful and memorable, which is the reason why I would miss MUN so much after my graduation.

In my first MUN experience, KISMUN2018, I was both fun and uncertain. It was fun to make POIs and speeches but meanwhile, I was confused about whether I was making good and fundamental POIs or speeches. Come to think of it now, it was such a useless worry. What is more important than making good POIs is trying to challenge and speak in front of many people. MUN is not a stage for the complete but rather, for the deficient who are eager to develop. Delegates, there is no reason why delegates should be daunted or feel afraid of MUN. There are chairs who are always willing to help delegates and press and admin teams who endeavor to make the best MUN atmosphere. Thus, raise your placards, express your ideas ,and share those with delegates. As the slogan of KISMUN2020, “ignite your passion.” As a delegate who represents a country, feel the responsibility, show your ability ,and develop yourselves.

I sincerely promise that all chairs, directors, student officers will give 200% to help delegates and make the conference productive. Most importantly, from the bottom of my heart, enjoy yourselves in KISMUN ,and create stunning memory in KISMUN2020.

Sincerely

Si Hwan Joo

Head Chair of the Security Council.

Deputy Chair

Greetings to all MUN participants of KISMUN2020!

I am Ha Kyung, and it is a great honor to serve you as the Deputy Chair of the Security Council. This is my 6th time in a conference, and I am sure that it would be the best one I have participated in.

I would like to start by mentioning a saying: "If not now, when, if not me, who?", by Emma Watson on her speech in the UN during 2015. This has inspired me to speak up more during KISMUN2019. I started drawing a stick man in the beginning of my conference, and for every speech and POI I made, a jewelry was added to it. At the end of my three days, I had a very rich stick man drawn on my notebook.

Delegates, it is okay to leave the conference room with a stick man with no jewelry, and it is okay to hesitate to come out to the podium, or rise from your chairs to speak. However, I would want to tell you to try your best in every part of the conference, and do not hesitate to ask for help from the chairs. I will always be in my position to help all of you out whenever you need me.

To end, don't forget to have fun, and I hope that all the delegates will leave the conference room with a great experience.

Sincerely,

Kwag Ha Kyung

Deputy Chair of the Security Council

Crisis Director

 Lee Ji Hoon

Privileged delegates, Student Officers and respective guests,

My name is Ji Hoon, your Crisis director of this KISMUN 2020. It is a great honor to participate in KISMUN 2020 as a student officer with such great delegates. Since I was 7th grade, I participated in every KISMUN conference as a delegate. I could not be able to make a speech or even make a single POIs because I was too nervous at my first debate. However, as I participated in many debates, I could discover my improving skills.

There is a saying in Korea. “Start is half done.” This means that getting started is important in anything. Your MUN conferences would not be much different. There may be no trigger that motivates yourself, but I want to say: “Start First. Think of yourself, you won’t regret later.” There are no challenges and attempts that are not beautiful. Every step will be considered valuable and respectful.

Now I would like to conclude with a short greeting. Try it even you are scared and nervous to participate. The door for you is wide opened in 2020 KISMUN. I hope you will unleash your talents to the fullest and bear fruit in your efforts. I am rooting for you!
